The George of Stamford is a beautiful 16th century coaching inn with log fires, oak-panelled restaurant, a walled monastery garden, a cobbled courtyard decorated with hanging baskets - all in keeping with the style of Stamford.

The hotel is both for business and pleasure, attached to the hotel is a Conference Centre incorporating all modern facilities. The George succeeds in retaining the charm and atmosphere of its long history yet offers today’s guest every modern comfort.

The A La Carte Restaurant offers both the highest standard of cuisine and service, the style is essentially traditional - the sirloin beef carved at your table is just one example - but utilises modern and international ideas. The Garden Room restaurant is less formal, serving food from 7.00 am until 11.00 pm, or alternatively in the summer months enjoy the picturesque courtyard.

The internationally acclaimed wine list is not only to be admired but enjoyed at your leisure.

    The george at Stamford is excellent and the service is not to be knocked nothing is ever to much trouble .The setting is gorgeous with big stair cases and open fires,if you like great service and food this is the place to go.

    I have been to this hotel a number of times and is perfect whether you are staying, eating or just having a drink. Fantastic atmosphere with very helpful staff.

    I have never actaully stayed at this hotel, but often recomend it for family or friends and they have always raved about it. We have been for afternoon tea or morning coffee and it has always been lovely. Service is great, quick and friendly. Food is also nice, a bit stuffy at times but generally nice for older relations especially. Great location, close to town and all that Stamford has to offer. Also near to antiques centre which is excellent for having a look to find bizarre old things! I know several people who have had their wedding parties here and they have always been lovely. Nice setting and photos are very pretty. Locally renowned as one of the best hotels to stay and eat at and we have always been pleased.
