luxurious bolthole

I stayed midweek for a night last week. Location-wise it can be tricky to find, although is only five minutes walking distance from Deansgate - not the area I usually hang out in. It's £5 in a cab from Victoria, so add this in to your calculations (City Inn & Mal are both within walking/dragging case distance from Victoria). I stayed in a standard room (£100 - £110 if you book online). You get a DAB radio & CD player (no mp3 compatible system), DVD player. Internet access is an additional £10 for 24 hours :( - also the wireless signal is too weak to work is some of the rooms, so check. The staff were great while I was there, really helpful, and quick to fix any issues. The bed was amazingly comfortable, the room nicely decorated if a little on the small side. The bath, small walk in shower room and toilet were all on a split-level above the bedroom and were fantastic, especially the bath, which is a generous size and filled in minutes. You can smoke or just hang out on the roof top area that was great, although I wasn't hugely tempted by the hot tub. You can just about see the Corrie set if you squint too, not sure how much this added. On the whole it's a nice, intimate hotel, better suited for leisure than business, a bit out of the way depending on where in Manchester you want to be. Makes a good alternative to Mal if you feel like a change.
