  3. Saucy Spanish

Great tapas bar (s). I agree with the previous reviewers that the one in the West End is the superior, not that there's anything particularly wrong with the City Centre branch, but the one just tucked below and behind Byres Road has a particularly nice atmosphere. As with all tapas restaurants, the thing to do is split a variety of dishes between you all and the waiters seem helpful enough assisting your choices. The tables are a little small, but I can't fault the decor which is carved wood and decorated brocade. Don't forget the patatas bravas!

  1. Lively atmosphere - same menu

Cafe Andaluz has 2 branches in Glasgow and I have eaten in both. If I had to choose between the two I would definitely go back to both but prefer the one in the West End. The West End restaurant is on Cresswell lane, just near the pubs on Byres Rd and is a great starting place for a night out. It is below ground level and is very cosy, with room for large or small groups. The restaurant itself is very atmospheric, with Moorish influenced interiors and bench type seats with cushions. The food has never been disappointing in itself - they offer a good selection of meat and vegetable tapas. The only down side is that the menu doesn't change very often. Not a problem if you're visiting Glasgow, but I reckon I've tried almost everything on the menu by now! Always really busy at nights, so it's best to reserve especially at weekends.

  2. tapas tales

Cafe andaluz has two locations in glasgow. One in the city centre and one in the west end. the one in the west end has a wonderfully medeteranian feel to it and the staff and friendly and efficient. It is easy to order too much tapas as they are tiny plates ideal for sharing but in here you will wish for more regardless of how much you order as it is extremely tasty and well prepared. They frequently have special offers available through 5pm.com and this is often either 3for or a free bottle of wine or welcome drink. Well worth a visit and handy for hillhead underground and buses. Also it is nice to have a wander down byres road on a summer evening after tapas, or along into the botanics then you can almost picture yourself on holiday!
