My friend Kate had raved about this place so on my last trip to Glasgow I decided to see what the fuss was all about. The bar looks quite small from the outside, however it is deceptive as it is quite long, a lot bigger than expected. Once your inside, you'll be hard pushed to get a seat, I was there on a Thursday evening and it was mobbed. The selection of beers was good, 8-10 cask ale taps and a decent selection of bottled beers, however I did not even look at their bottled section due to the amount of brass taps present. The beer quality was also very good. The barmaids were friendly and informative; I particularly like that they asked what type of glass I wanted.I highly recommend this bar, a bit busy, but that is a sign of it's selection and quality.Report this

The "Bon" was and still is a decent Real Ale outlet. However, what was a very good pricing policy of all ales being the same price irrelevant of strength has now turned into a minus. To pay £2.90 for a 3.4% ale is extremely greedy especially when there are 3 Wethersopoons outlets within 10 minutes walk. In summer the ales tend to "warm up" indicating the cellar refridgeration is unable to cope with the increase in ambient temperature. In my humble opinion the Bon Accord is still worth a visit but not the mecca it once was .Report this

The Bon Accord is a very long established traditional real ale pub. I hate real ale and so does my husband but that doesn't stop us from visiting it. It has always been right up there when it comes to any new foreign beers being introduced, which my husband does like. The prices for these are usually astronomical wherever you go and the Bon Accord is no different in this respect. The loos are nothing special. The pub does a roaring trade in plain and simple home cooked bar food. It can get very busy but you can usually get a seat after not too long a wait as there is a brisk and continuously revolving trade.Report this

Years ago you pretty well had two choices in Glasgow in relation to beer. Drink the pish which passes for Scottish Heavy, or go to the Bon Accord and drink Real Ale. Fortunately times have changed, and you can now get a decent pint in most pubs, and the Bon Accord is still up there with the best of them, although it feels very like Hubbards and The Aragon inside decor-wise. I've been on the winning team in the weekly pub quiz here two or three times in the past, but I don't know if the quiz still happens. And nowadays all Scottish Heavy is still complete pish, but there are some great Scottish Real Ales too.Report this
