Dishwasher repair - AndyTab40 (07/04/2012)

We asked AAC to repair our SMEG dishwasher a few months ago. To be fair, it wasn't one of their areas of specialism but the repair man said he could fix it. He came, spent 15 minutes on the machine, declared it fixed and took payment. He said we should listen out to see if there were any problems and he'd come back if the problem persisted. It did, he came back, claimed it was repaired. The issue here was that the *problem* occurred 20 minutes into the washing cycle - we timed this on several occasions so that we could provide all info needed - but the repair man would stay for 10 minutes and say it was fixed; he never once asked any proper diagnostic questions. We doggedly pursed the repair man to make things right but in the end he would make appointments and never turn up. He missed several over a two week period and never called to say he wasn't coming. We'd have to chase but he always had an excuse. In the end we hired someone else. He identified the problem straight away and disputed the replacement repair - starter motor - that the AAC man had made (the repair could not have been made as you'd need to remove the machine from the unit). The new repair man also pointed out that our plumbing for the machine was wrong - pipe not fixed to the cold tap - which any dishwasher repair man should have spotted. He didn't charge us & told us that we needed a new machine.I wrote to ACC and asked for a refund for the £89 they charged. They never replied. If I'd had more time I would have taken AAC to the small claims court. | Report this
