Yell.com accessibility statement

We're committed to improving access to our content for all users as part of our company-wide corporate responsibility programme.

This page describes the key accessibility features used on Yell.com to help those who wish to take advantage of them.

There are also details on other ways of accessing our content if you prefer not to use the internet.

Technical accessibility and our build standards

Yell.com is developed to conform with the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 1.0 (WCAG 1.0) to ensure the best possible experience for users of a wide range of browsing software.

We continually review our accessibility level and work with external specialists to ensure it is developed and maintained.

Practical accessibility and user testing

We work with a specialist agency to carry out user testing to ensure Yell.com is as practically accessible as possible. These tests use a broad range of participants including users of adaptive technology such as screen readers. The test findings and user feedback are used to improve our practical accessibility.

Yell.com is also speech-enabled via the Browsealoud browser plug-in. This service is a free download designed to help Yell.com users who find it hard to read, which supplements (rather than replaces) other screen readers. The Browsealoud FAQs provide more information.

Text size and style

Users may customize their browser settings to make changes to the site appearance to suit their needs. This may include text sizes, text colour and background colour. Yell.com is designed and built to accommodate these settings while still displaying its content effectively.

Usually these settings can be found in the "View options" or "Preferences" menus of web browser software and there may be keyboard shortcuts assigned to them. Users are advised to check their browser's "Help" section for information on how to make these changes, or make use of the accessibility features of their computer's operating system.
